FARAH

Musical Artist

TESTIMONIAL

“As an artist who is incredibly passionate about people collaborating and communities embracing each other, I am absolutely honored to be performing at ‘The ANOKHI PRESTIGE Experience’ event on April 30, 2017 in Toronto. I have always been a fan of Raj and her brand ANOKHI, a truly powerful woman with a wonderful heart and desire to promote an exciting blend of fashion, music, media, pop-culture and lifestyle, while being very authentic about what she wants to represent. In this case, the theme ‘This Is My Beauty’ is particularly compelling and appropriate for me as I embrace my own beauty and authenticity as I re-brand from my original artist name of Farahri to my real name and roots – FARAH. I’m so excited to meet everyone and share my music with the ANOKHI family.”

BIO

What’s in a name? An artist’s identity, image, sound, personality and soul. RnB- fusion artist FARAH, previously known as Farahri, has recently discovered just how powerful a name can be. Last summer, she unknowingly performed as FARAH to a crowd of 15,000 screaming fans as she sang the theme song with major Bollywood Stars, Salim-Sulaiman, at the 2016 Jubilee Games in Dubai, UAE. It was the first time since she began singing professionally, that her real name was used, and she didn’t have a clue it was going to happen. This started an avalanche of people suggesting she switch to FARAH.

Initially reluctant, she began to reflect on her image, her music and her message. FARAH, meaning “Joy and Happiness” was the perfect mononym for this new phase in her artistic life. Heavily influenced by artists such as Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, India Arie, Sia and Lauryn Hill, FARAH is only taking what is congruent from her past as Farahri while her new sound develops and transforms into a project called “Rebirth”. Songs such as Take Me As I Am, Perfect Shadow, Tug of War and Just Play (From her debut EP – No Fear Just Play) are all songs that fit with her message of being true to your emotions and who you are, while overall being deliciously and unconditionally in love with yourself and your life. Other songs such as What She Said, and unreleased songs such as I am a Woman and Freedom are very focused on female empowerment and celebration.

FARAH had a wild and successful past as Farahri, opening for artists like Sean Paul, Usher, Jeremih, and Massari to collaborating with stars like Choclair and Gyptian, but she is ready to reach new heights and new depths of her artistry, passion and message by stepping into her own skin and owning her true self – FARAH.
