Press Release: A Day of Glamour & Inspiration At ‘This Is My Glamour 18’


Toronto, ON (Monday May 14th, 2018) – ANOKHI MEDIA, Canada’s leading South Asian entertainment and lifestyle media and events company, hosted the third event in its T.A.P.E series – #ThisIsMyGlamour18 – a week ago to a packed house. The membership driven niche event showcased inspirational talks and panels in the world of glamour and beauty, and provided ample networking opportunities to industry professionals. 

The day began with a registration and networking hour, with guests mixing and mingling and enjoying the spectacular panoramic views of the city and lake from the 17th floor of The Globe and Mail Centre, against the backdrop of music by DJ Fizza. Guests also enjoyed delicious treats at the Brar Desserts booth, as well as some refreshing mocktails by Rubicon Exotic (served throughout the event). And the Sherni’s Sauces’ sampling bar had the attendees coming back for more throughout the day.

The Toronto Fashion Academy, in collaboration with Pretty Woman Cosmetics, hosted a glam bar where the guests enjoyed hair and makeup touch-ups. New York based fashion designer, Allia Qureshi showcased her new atelier collection of custom ethnic garments. Actress Sheetal Sheth and university professor Dr. Renu Persaud hosted a book signing for Always Anjali (Global Launch) and The Mastery of You (Toronto Launch), respectively.

The program started with an exclusive and candid celebrity fireside chat (brought to you by Bharat Babies) with actress and author, Sheetal Sheth, hosted by our very own CEO Raj Girn. Sheetal revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment business, and the inspiration behind why she wrote the book Always Anjali. Dr. Renu Persaud delivered an inspirational spotlight talk about the historical origins of glamour, sponsored by her book The Mastery Of You. This was followed by a fun and interactive presentation by the ANOKHI Magazine team, titled “What’s Hot This Season? Pt. 1”, hosted by Editor-In-Chief Hina P. Ansari and presented by Women’s Fashion & Style Expert,Tessa Johnson.

After lunch, the program continued with a panel hosted by CP24’s Pooja Handa, featuring style influencer The Sandy Lion, beauty influencer Hemali Mistry, fashion & branding lawyer Ashlee Froese and Desi drag queen Manghoe Lassi, where they discussed and answered audience questions on the business of glamour. This was followed by a poignant keynote speech by Dr. Samita Nandy, entitled “Glamour & Celebrity Activism”, sponsored by the Centre For Media & Celebrity Studies. Finishing up the program was Part 2 of ANOKHI Magazine’s interactive “What’s Hot This Season” segment, where Hina P. Ansari was joined by Men’s Style Expert Harjas Singh for the presentation.

A total of 14 sponsored raffle gifts were handed out throughout the day’s program, with a total value of over $3,500. The guests left with bustling gift bags filled with products and services, of over $500 each.
